The Nature of Knowledge – Two-day National Workshop
A two-day enquiry-led workshop with philosopher Prof. Sundar Sarukkai exploring the nature, meaning and different forms of knowledge across natural sciences, medical sciences and social sciences.
About this event
The workshop will explore philosophical perspectives on knowledge, including contemporary and Indian epistemology. Led by Prof. Sundar Sarukkai, it will examine questions such as who decides what constitutes knowledge, how different philosophical schools approach it, and what these perspectives mean for traditional medicine and knowledge synthesis in India. Discussions will draw on his book Homo Philosophicus: Discovering the Spirit of Philosophy in Everyday Life. The format is dialogue- and enquiry-led rather than a series of lectures, with participants working in groups on topics of interest. The workshop is offered as part of the M.Sc. Life Sciences (Ayurveda Biology) programme and is an activity under the Centre of Excellence grant, IKS, Ministry of Education. The fee includes meals, materials and a participation certificate. Shared accommodation is available at an additional nominal cost, subject to availability.
